The Blind Ski program was started in 1963 and was the only Blind Water Skiing instruction program in the County. In partnership with the San Diego Mission Bay Boat and Ski Club, visually impaired adults and children who reside in San Diego County have the opportunity to learn to water ski and ride in ski tubes on Mission Bay in several events between May and September. The San Diego Mission Bay Boat and Ski Club secures the permit and provides the equipment, expertise and lunch; the Blind Community Center of San Diego markets the opportunities to the Greater Blind Community of San Diego County and provides transportation to and from the event.
This year, Saturday, May 20 was the first day on the water with the Mission Bay Boat and Ski Club. Members enjoyed water skiing, tubing, boat rides, fun in the sun and lunch sponsored by the San Diego Mission Bay Boat and Ski Club.
