Making Waves: Boating Adventures with the San Diego Mission Bay Boat & Ski Club

For more than 60 years, the San Diego Mission Bay Boat & Ski Club (SDMBBSC) has opened its doors — and its boats — to the Blind Community Center and other blind and low-vision participants, offering unforgettable days of fun and adventure on the water.

Once a month, from May through September, SDMBBSC volunteers generously donate their time, boats, and friendly assistance at the Hidden Anchorage Cove on Fiesta Island. This special cove is rented exclusively for our use, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy the excitement of water sports.

Each event is filled with sunshine, laughter, and discovery. Activities include water skiing, tubing, boat rides, and plenty of fun in the sun, followed by a barbecue lunch back at the club. For many participants, it’s a chance to learn new skills, build confidence, and experience the joy of doing something they never imagined possible — all with the support of patient, experienced volunteers who make safety and inclusion their top priorities.

As Summer 2025 comes to an end, we look back with gratitude for another incredible season on the bay. The friendships formed and memories made remind us of the power of community and the possibilities that open when people come together.

If you’ve ever wanted to try something new, challenge yourself, and enjoy a beautiful day outdoors — this program is for you!

We can’t wait to make more memories when the fun begins again in May 2026.
Thank you, SDMBBSC, for your remarkable dedication and decades of service.
