Annual Cinco de Mayo Party
About 20 members of the Blind Community Center celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a party. First up was a trivia contest based on Mexican history from the 1600s to the 1800s. After a delicious lunch of fish tacos, rice and beans, and tamales, the trivia contest continued. The radio played Mexican music for the occasion. At one point, Karla did a bit of salsa dancing to the strains of “La Bamba.” She also cooked our fabulous meal. The celebration culminated with a piñata. Eventually, the final blow was landed and out came the candy. In a departure from the usual chaotic scene, it was neatly packaged in zip-lock bags.
