The National Charity League’s Halloween party at the Blind Community Center (BCC) was a scary-fun occasion. Early arrivals on Saturday, October 28, waited downstairs while a team of two-dozen National Charity League (NCL) members turned the auditorium into a festive scene. Tables were shrouded in black tablecloths, further dressed-up with handmade paper pumpkins, paper napkin pumpkins filled with candy, little plastic spiders, and real candy corn scattered about. Additionally, an assortment of halloweenish decorations were placed on the walls. This was a heroic effort given how quickly the transformation took place.
The mother-and-daughter teams prepared the wonderful lasagna lunch that was served, complete with salad, garlic bread, and frightfully tasty cupcakes. It was all ghoulishly yummy. Many of the NCL volunteers and several BCC members came dressed to party, wearing lacy tu-tu’s, witch’s hats, devil’s horns, cat’s ears, and someone dressed as a child zombie complete with a wig and makeup. Party highlights included playing Halloween games, making spooky noises, and a costume contest. When the event was over, there was a roar of applause and cheers, followed by laughter and lively conversation. Thank you to the National Charity League for hosting such a ghostly-fun event!
