MAJOR DONORS IN NOVEMBER

Southwest Lions of San Diego

As a result of your generous donation, over 600 nutritious, lunchtime meals were provided to hungry blind and low vision seniors at the BCC in November.  Our menu included hearty vegetable soup, baked potatoes, ravioli with marinara, and leftover turkey casserole.  Thank you.

Lloyd Pest Control

Lloyd Pest Control, a family owned business since 1931, has been taking care of the Blind Community Center since 2003.  They provide excellence in pest control for the BCC.  Lloyd Pest Control is on site at the BCC every month for preventative maintenance and we seldom see any unwelcome critters.  Our building is located next to Florida Canyon and occasionally an uninvited creature of some sort will make its way inside.  One call to Lloyd Pest Control and they are Johnny on the spot to take care of our problem,  Thank you Lloyd Pest Control!

Mission Lion Marilyn Kneeland

Thank you for performing Nellie Bly at our Thanksgiving feast.  Nelly Bly was the first woman investigative journalist and her story is amazing, especially when presented by Marilyn.

North Park Lions

Thank you for your financial support and the loan of your Corn Hole games. We are having fun and we appreciate you every day.

San Diego AT&T Pioneers

San Diego AT&T Pioneers held their first BUNCO Fundraiser event at the BCC.  Proceeds were donated to the BCC.  The event was a huge success and will probably be the first of many BUNCO Parties at the BCC.  Everyone had a great time playing this fun card game.  What is BUNCO?  “Bunco is a social dice game, traditionally played with 12 players who are divided into three tables with four players at each table. … A game of Bunco is played in two to four sets, with six rounds in each set. A player at the head table rings a bell to signal the beginning and end of each round.” The BCC auditorium was filled with card tables and four BUNCO players at each table.  We had a Snack Bar with Pizza, Hotdogs, Nachos, Candy, Chips, drinks and fruit for sale.  The little bell rang, people laughed and we must do  this event again!  Thank you Pioneers!

Lions Optometric Vision Clinic

The Lions Optometric Vision Clinic (LOVC) negotiated with the Rescue Mission to have Rescue Mission volunteers help with cleaning needs at the BCC twice a week.  The Rescue Mission volunteers each receive a free pair of glasses from the LOVC for their services.  This is just one of the ways the BCC and the LOVC work together in this new age of cooperation between the two organizations.  Thank you to Marcia and the LOVC board of directors and to Enrique and Stephanie of the LOVC.

San Diego Rescue Mission

Volunteers from the San Diego Rescue Mission are coming to the BCC twice a week to perform cleaning duties.  Thank you!   They are working hard, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, and wiping down tables with antiseptic spray.  We appreciate you.

Thank you December Nights Craft Class Volunteers

Teachers and crafters, thanks to you all for making sure that we have lots of items for our December Nights craft booth coming up on December 1st and 2nd.  Odena, Dora, Jeanie, MaryLou, Velda, Nena, Marlene, Diane, Rochelle, and Glynn worked for many hours on beaded projects and most members of the craft class helped with fabric wreaths, Santa Faces and other crafts. Thanks to everyone who worked on December Nights Projects.  Just think, on January 3rd, we’ll start on 2018 December Nights Crafts!  Good work all!
