The National Charity League is a national non-profit organization comprised of mother and daughter members. The NCL hosts our Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, Valentine’s Day and summer BBQ parties at the BCC every year.
In addition, the 2019 senior class project is a renovated youth room and creation of a sensory garden patio for blind and low vision members of the BCC. With some help from the mom’s, the girls designed the new room as a space to relax and kick back. They picked the color scheme, selected the furniture and flooring and arranged for piano tuning. The girls also secured funding for the project through fundraising.
The garden is a scented oasis of lavender, basil, mint, rosemary and fruit trees. The NCL even arranged to hang wind chimes created by members of the Blind Community Center art class and San Diego Art Institute instructors.
