The Encinitas Lions Club in partnership with Urban Surf 4 Kids held their 26th Annual Surfing Clinic for the blind and visually impaired on September 10 2023 at Cardiff State Beach. Surfers were provided wetsuits, surfboards and instruction in the water as they challenged themselves to balance atop surfboards. Lunch for all guests included sandwiches, pizza, chips, cookies and drinks.
Blind and low vision participants from the Blind Community Center of San Diego, the Center for the Blind and the Braille Institute attended the event and were student surfers for the day. Here are photos from the day, please note that the surfers in the blue shirts were all low vision or blind. Yellow shirts were volunteers. How brave and courageous they were. Congratulations to all surfers and a huge Thank You to all of the Encinitas Lion and Urban Surf volunteers.
